“Not Today” is a breezy, melodic success from Huan, the project of Florida-based artist Juan Mallorca. Serene guitar jangles and nostalgic synth tones consume amidst a laid-back vocal presence, fit for late-night ruminating.
The jangly guitar tones and “not today,” vocal refrain immerses, reminding fondly of Last Dinosaurs. “Not Today” touts a crisp, well-produced sound with ample accessibility. The spacey synth-driven atmospherics combine with yearning vocals approaching the two-minute mark, for a strong emotive pull. “Not Today” consumes with its retrospective fusing of synths, guitars, and hooky vocals, placing Huan firmly on my radar.
