Lost Leaders – “Jealous Sun”

/

The title track from Lost Leaders‘ new EP, “Jealous Sun” consumes with its suavely effective rise. A steady percussive pulse and twangy guitars complement an understated vocal lead to start, exceling amidst the “waking up,” rise, where wordless backing vocal reflections and mellow keys add lovingly to the mix. Chirpy guitars emerge at the chorus’ end, quickly dissipating as the verses re-enter. The “waking up,” hook excels with each reprisal, reminding fondly of Wilco in its hazy rock-induced soundscape.

The band comprises bassist Byron Isaacs and guitarist Peter Cole. Isaacs will be familiar to many as the bassist for The Lumineers.
