A stellar track from their new album A Pigeon in the Cockpit, German band Spiderwebs & Foam concoct a tightly melodic rock sound on “Second Tries.” A hooky, accessible first half with breezy jangles drives to a final minute with satiating vigor.
The suave vocals and guitar jangles engage, with the “futility,” guitar trickles expanding the melodic rollout. Darkening further, the “more than I can stand,” shift into second half plays effectively, into a thunderous conclusion with a jam-friendly allure. “Second Tries” is among numerous highlights throughout the excellent A Pigeon in the Cockpit.
