shadow work – “Warm Tones”

/

Denver-based rock trio shadow work thoroughly engross on their new track “Warm Tones,” exuding riveting passion throughout in the dreamy guitar tones and commanding vocals.

“Warm Tones” compels with its passionate songwriting and performance. An ardent vocal presence and sleepy guitar tones contrast beautifully. Ascending percussive momentum, rising and halting around 01:30, entices into a thunderous conclusion. A delicate, haunting series of guitar trickles lead the satiating conclusion. Similar to Antlers, Wild Beasts, or Grizzly Bear, the vocals project a beautiful dynamic that ranges from ethereal and tender to emotively raucous.

The trio elaborate on the track:

“Lyrically, ‘Warm Tones’ is a song about being a product of your environment, and the cycles we find ourselves in because of it. The subject of the song is desperate to break free from the patterns of relational dysfunction. It can be demoralizing yet freeing to acknowledge how the hand you’ve been dealt influences your life.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2022’ Spotify playlist.
