Heaven Slept – “Mantis”

//

Unveiling a dynamic post-punk display with textural guitar vigor, “Mantis” is a new track from Heaven Slept, a band from South Georgia.

Ample mystique is crafted immediately; dazed vocals and eerie guitar stylings intrigue into a pulsing guitar distortion. The invigorating rise leads to a deliciously dark guitar sequence, bolstered by a reflective bass-driven pulsation with post-punk allure. The contrast from the moody, darkened verses and erupting chorus makes for a riveting enthrallment throughout.

The band explains: “The song is ultimately about relationships – the give and take, push and pull. And the waiting, wondering and uncertainty between friends, partners, and family.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2022’ Spotify playlist.
