Field Guides – “Esopus”

//

Brooklyn-based act Field Guides compel through their new single “Esposus,” which rides radiantly on jangly guitars and perky keys. Benedict Kupstas’ songwriting engages with spirited, nostalgic qualities — cohesively straddling lush contemplation with twangy hooks. The “at the botanical garden,” segment finds a particularly stellar intertwining of these delectable guitar tones and escalating synth-y effervescence.

The track, whose lyrics show “a relationship at a crossroads in vivid vignettes,” is an enjoyable showcase of the project’s sharp songwriting.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of December 2022’ Spotify playlist.
