Brass Calf – “lifeline”

/

Chicago-based band Brass Calf unveil an impassioned rock sound on “lifeline,” whose dynamic sound ranges from serenely contemplative qualities to an invigorating title-touting finale, punctuated by a shimmering ambience. The vocals throughout compel in matching the instrumentation’s ferocity, evolving from lush meandering to striking ardency in the first 30 seconds alone.

The concluding refrain echoes the track’s powerful theme, conveying the strength of strong bonds, especially in the lonesome and murky sea of existence. Per the band: “This is a song about friendship. A fish, lost at sea, is dying to be caught by a fisherman friend and worshiped as a trophy.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2023’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
