David Knowles – “Blackest Night”

/

A new track from Edinburgh-based singer/songwriter David Knowles, “Blackest Night” is a moving, emotive success complemented by a striking music video. Concocting a cinematic and intriguing soundscape, creaky piano and underlying strings complement a contemplative vocal presence.

The well-produced music video is an apt fit for this, with all the lyrical imagery — “days are dark, and the nights are getting cold,” concocting imagery that the music video’s direction is fully capable of replicating. The steady build into the “find me in the blackest night,” lyric plays with haunting entrancement. Aesthetically, I’m fondly reminded of American Music Club’s somber stylings.

Look for the full video to release on January 13th.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of January 2023’ Spotify playlist.
