Casey Wells – “Over”

/

“Over” is a resonating new track from Casey Wells, an artist from Charleston, South Carolina. Impressing last year with efforts like “Side of Me” and “Moving On,” Wells shows a spacious, emotive enthrallment with “Over,” whose climactic piano pulses and dramatic viola integrations prove stirring.

Citing inspirations like MGMT and Tame Impala in the production, Wells describes the track as “a dramatic retelling of experiences of a younger self.” The initial lyrical proclamation invoke a fleeting loss of time, and a lack of appreciation for time itself. String-laden underlying resonates alongside the piano and vocals that wonder “if it’s too late.” A slight percussive addition in the second half, as the vocal fade momentarily, adds grippingly to the commiserating sense of loss. “Over” is another heartfelt success from Casey Wells.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2023’ Spotify playlist.
