Ghost Shirt – “Orphans”

/

“Orphans” is a heart-tugging, rock build-up from Ghost Shirt, representing the first single from their upcoming album, out this fall. Understated guitars and retrospective lyrics ease into gentle strings, which expand with intensity alongside the guitars and vocals for a fulfilling structural build.

Plucky guitars during the “moved into your mom’s place,” segment — following a somber diagnosis — plays with an impactful emotion into the “I think this house needs an exorcism,” string-laden stirring. The rock-ready guitar distortion and chirpy brass further this passionate lyricism with added ardency. Imagery of childhood homes and personal loss resonate alongside the “when we were orphans,” for an anthemic, memorable sound.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2023’ Spotify playlist.
