Heavenstamp – “Anesthesia”

Channeling the project’s meshing of hooky rock production and philosophical themes, “Anesthesia” is a new track from Tokyo-based band Heavenstamp. The track depicts “a person who bravely walk through the days that need to be lived with anesthesia on his heart,” per the act.

Distorted guitar buzzes complement an expressive vocal lead, whose spirited escalation is preceded by sporadic synth movements. These re-appear with vigor following this stellar central hook. Approaching the two-minute mark, the guitars and electronic underlying converge for a fantastic engrossment. A charming vocal refrain then leads into another vigor-full chorus.

“Anesthesia” is a rousing rock-forward success from Heavenstamp, who also note the track’s appeal to “the situation of needing to be paralyzed to live thorough is wrong.” Marking their first release of 2023, “Anesthesia” is undoubtedly the start of a lofty ascent for the band, who additionally have been collaborating with Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack.
