LB Beistad – “Why Don’t We Go West”

/

“Why Don’t We Go West” is a gorgeous new single from LB Beistad, a singer/songwriter from rural East Tennessee whose cinematic folk sound conveys yearning and a look to the future. Lyrics reflects on “days and weeks,” amidst a subdued rhythmic backing, as twangy guitars sporadically drop in.

The cathartic “why don’t,” vocal sequence proves haunting in its backing textural glow and multi-layered vocal backing. “Why don’t we go west?” is asked with a gripping immersion; a subdued bridge past the two-minute mark rises with loving cohesion into the central chorus, replay-inducing with each entry. “Why Don’t We Go West” is a showcase in stirring songwriting from LB Beistad.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2023’ Spotify playlist.
