The Third Machine – “Blossom Ahead”

A track from Canadian-German collaboration The Third Machine, “Blossom Ahead” struts a stirring production with stunning expansion from gorgeously melancholic orchestral salutations to buzzing electronic textures in the bustling conclusion. Formed in 2016 by André Caissie and Florian Heinen, the project weaves an eclectic array of styles, including folk, synth-pop, trip-hop, grunge, and psych-rock.

Per the duo, “Blossom Ahead” “deals with the contradiction of being an individual and having to serve. To hope for better days, to understand life as a waiting game, while the wheel just keeps on turning.” This yearning for better days is chillingly conveyed in the final refrain — “there is a blossom ahead,” — amidst the striking, atmospheric production.
