King Crash – “The Man in the Iron Mask”

/

NYC act King Crash shows a smooth, psych-friendly rock sound on new single “The Man in the Iron Mask.” Heralded for their live performances, the project shows its power in the studio as well with this one.

Metaphorical lyrical pursuits — “I am the violin, the choir, and the brass,” — complement tender guitar stylings and pit-pattering percussion, escalating past the one-minute mark into a more fervent vocal burst. The jazzy guitar work and rhythm section rounding the two-minute turn proves especially magnetic, exemplifying the act’s ability to infuse folk-friendly accessibility with jam-centric tranquility.

The track comes via the album June Snow:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.
