Lonely Gimmick – “Roll Me Over”

/

“Roll Me Over” balances hooky immediacy and heartrending introspection, marking a sturdy success from UK artist Lonely Gimmick. The single reflects poignantly on a “relationship’s aftermath,” — interspersing reminders that things will be “alright,” with some blame-games directed at oneself.

Sporadic guitar strums complement a visceral series of lyrical introspection. “I am a liar. I am a cheat.” The “everything will be alright,” reminders play like a meditative calming in between moments of self-blame, as escalating guitars and clap-laden percussive elements combine delightfully. A summarizing monologue concludes the track, with a reassuring send-off.

“Roll Me Over” is a memorable showing from Lonely Gimmick, marking the final single prior to next year’s album release, Stay At Home to Sleep In.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
