Blueprint Tokyo – “Take My Breath”

/

A stylish ’80s rock nostalgia enamors on “Take My Breath,” the latest track from Oklahoma City-based act Blueprint Tokyo. The smooth vocals, with shades of Richard Butler, navigate alongside steady guitar lines and ardent saxophone flourishes. “Hearts will be broken,” the vocals repeat during a captivating rise. “Until they find their way.” The lyrical qualities poignantly convey the ups and downs of growing up, emphasizing maturity and its accumulation through varied experiences, some of them being heartbreak.

Also impressing with the track “Stand and Deliver” last month, the duo of Kevin Dawson and Andy Hale release the track ahead of their upcoming EP, releasing in 2024. The track’s escalation to rousing guitars and slithering saxophone at the 40-second mark is particularly captivating, never letting go in its atmospheric and emotive rock flair thereafter. “Take My Breath” has us continuing to anticipate the talented project’s upcoming EP.

“The sax really helps to elevate the sound and add a texture that you just don’t hear as much anymore.” Hale explains. Dawson continues: “Our songs and new EP are all about taking chances, expanding our skills as songwriters, and looking for inspiration around us.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.
