Grund – “Annette” + “Hägring”

/

Showing a rock sound that spans from rousing anthemics to murky psych-forward undercurrents, Avund is a two-track EP from Gothenburg-based act Grund. “Annette” touts a feverish pull with its dark brassy feeling and climactic vocals, craving for oxygen in the sweltering central hook, while “Hägring” engrosses with a hypnotic psych-touched pull. The project first caught our ears earlier this year, with the haunting track “Drömd och glömd.”

An eerie, nightmare-forward theme is again apparent, per member Sebastian Sandström. He explains further: “Annette is about waking up from an epileptic seizure and the feeling that comes with that, the feeling that the world around you has turned into a dead world. The inability to hear the people around you looking down, being uncertain if you are awake. Then slowly returning to reality and feeling completely empty.”

“Annette” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.
