The Cumberland River Project – “Your Man”

/

“Your Man” presents a bluesy rock charm from The Cumberland River Project, based in Hagen, Germany. Debonair vocals and brassy immersion leads a soulful fervency to start. Additional vocal backings bolster the confident lead, driving to the “I wanna be your main,” refrain. Lyrical proclamations of adoration stir alongside the bluesy bass line, organ spurts, and brassy charisma. An electrifying guitar solo takes hold at the two-minute turn, traversing into a psych-friendly guitar effect and another rousing “wanna be your man,” refrain.

The project is led by songwriter and producer Frank Renfordt, joined by drummer Simon Roell, lead guitarist Dennis Renfordt, backing vocalist Jenny Sabi, and Dima Faustov on horns. Joe Cocker and Tina Turner and cited as particular inspirations on this track, in addition to “blues and soul music of the 70s & 80s.” The nostalgic blues-rock complements a narrative surrounding “a man who tries to persuade a country girl to have premarital sex with him.” The result is one that proves gripping in its bluesy rock soulfulness and suavely intoxicating production.
