dwn bad – “Palace of You”

/

The Houston-based project of multi-instrumentalist Derek Silva, dwn bad meshes murky post-punk appeal with moments of hooky vibrancy on debut single “Palace of You.” Described as “a testament to the unwavering dedication inspired by love,” “Palace of You” quickly immerses in layers of guitar twangs and subdued vocals. Glistening guitar spurts complement an ascending vocal flair rounding the one-minute turn, emphasizing the effort’s versatility — from murky subduedness to brighter hookiness — in the first minute.

Described further as “an ode to the nuanced emotions defining romantic partnerships, celebrating vulnerability and strength,” “Palace of You” is a hypnotic and melodic rock success from dwn bad. Silva is also known for his work as a former member of the bands Mantra Love and Teenage Wildlife. We’re excited to hear what’s next from this ascending solo project.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Indie Rock.
