Halvorsongs – “Angel By My Side”

/

A dreamy power-pop enamoring takes hold on “Angel By My Side,” emitting comforting themes of making the most of one’s life by prioritizing love, hope, and selflessness. The single marks a definitive success from Halvorsongs, the project of Tempe, AZ-based singer/songwriter Scott Halvorsen. Pleas to maintain one’s faith, particularly in a world full of strife, makes for a particularly resonating quality — “when it’s time to leave, my angel’s gonna be by my side,” the vocals outpour alongside jaunt piano and warming guitar jangles.

Heartfelt guitar twangs and amiable piano complements lyrical ruminations on society, and everybody “trying to prove each other wrong.” Amidst the nonstop competition, a call for peace to “sing my song,” is stirring — set against a harmonious production with power-pop chops reminiscent of Matthew Sweet, with some hints of The Flamings Lips’ “Do You Realize??” as well. We’re excited for the incoming stream of singles set to be released from Halvorsongs throughout the year.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
