Joyer – “Star”

/

Warming guitar jangles and harmonious vocals enamor on “Star,” a newly released single from New York-based duo Joyer, comprising brothers Nick and Shane Sullivan. “It’s about being in a weird time in your life that’s not necessarily what you expect, but kind of great in its own way,” they explain of the track.

“Star” blasts off right away into hazy vocal nonchalance and chirpy guitar jangles, assembling a power-pop and alt-rock synergy with a nostalgic pep. Soaring guitar tones take hold as the vocals fade momentarily, re-emerging with a lyrical poignancy describing the monotonous feelings of certain days: “All I do is the dishes these days.” A sturdy, melodic rock sound with power-pop jangling immerses throughout the catching “Star.”

The track is part of Joyer’s upcoming album Night Songs, out on April 26th.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
