Lindsay Brazell – ‘The World This Way’ EP

/

Showing a melodic folk and pop cohesion, with barbershop harmonizing alongside, The World This Way is the new EP from Lindsay Brazell. It marks the culmination of a 3-year project from the Greenville, SC-based artist.

“One Heartbeat” opens the EP by asking “are you listening?” alongside a climactic display of twangy guitars, building percussion, and piano adornments. “Life is so much better when we sing together,” a warming vocal reassurance follows, as mellow acoustics and piano intertwine. This inviting opener leads cohesively into “This Is Why I Sing,” which immediately showcases the choir’s beautiful impact. A jazzy bass line and balmy acoustics complement the vocal lead, traversing enjoyably into the fuller “to remember the feeling,” accompaniments.

The title track closes the EP with satiating results. “The World This Way” plays with poignant thematic appeal within building guitar layers and gorgeously melodic vocals in the “where do we go from here?” chorus, with a power-pop soaring. Brazell describes the track as “from the point of view of young adults speaking to youth letting them know that there is still time to make the world a better place, and that they are sorry for the things they are seeing in the world today.” The EP is a thorough success across its three tracks.

“The World This Way” and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
