Shady Oaks – “Best Thing”

/

Denver-based rockers Shady Oaks unveil a charismatic, stirring sound on new single “Best Thing.” Alternating sections consume between vocal-fronted prominence and feverish instrumentation — strutting a range of lively strings, rousing bluesy guitars, and climatic percussion. Saloon-set piano and fading strings arrive at a striking mid-point, arriving in the “I’m a lucky man,” vocal catharsis; the pace here slows down a bit for an impactful enduring, remarking “you saved my soul, you saved my life.”

Wordless vocal backings enamor during this conclusion, as sturdy guitar twangs and exuberant strings meld with melodic cohesion. A no-frills rock ‘n’ roll energy persists throughout. The “all night long,” soulful vocal reflections are further highlights in a production with an abundance of quality moments. The guitar emphasis into the “this life’s hard,” sequence at the two-minute turn also consumes, particularly in its traversal into a second half with ardently memorable satiation. “Best Thing” is a surefire success from Shady Oaks.
