A lushly affecting, melodic alt-rock dreaminess is evident throughout “In Motion,” a recent single from EVNTYD, the project of Julián Berdegué. Preceding an EP, out at the end of April, “In Motion” is described as “a song about odd-defying unconditional love, written for a girl who, despite the man without, fell in love with the man within.” It marks another success for EVNTYD, impressing in the past with tracks like “Parisian Fur” and “Hard On Us.”
Dashes of trickling guitars meld beautifully into a wordless vocal backing and textured guitar additions. The subdued vocal engrossment ventures with seamless vigor into the escalating sequences, declaring “all the bets are off, anything could happen,” into the beautifully layered guitar work and hypnotic rhythms. “I owe it all to you,” they heighten, sending chills into a memorable second half.
