floral print – “gracie and zarkov”

/

Representing a poppier tint to the band’s harder-rocking maneuvers, “gracie and zarkov” is a memorable new single from floral print. Formed around Atlanta in late 2014 by drummer Clover DeMerritt and singer/guitarist Nathan Springer, the project later added bassist Joshua Pittman, following the recording of their debut album mirror stages in 2016.

“gracie and zarkov” enamors in its twangy guitar pulses and heightening vocal character, traversing enjoyably into the hooky “snuff out the sun, now it’s only begun,” psych-friendly jangling. A melodic, hazy appeal is evident throughout. The track was recorded for the b-side of their new album, floral print’s guide to practical living and magical thinking, streaming below:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
