A spirited rock breeziness charms on “Undertow,” the latest single from Good Days. Led by duo Eric Ronick and Michael Cannova, the production excels in its evolution from understated vocal introspection and strumming acoustics into an anthemic ardency. “I got this feeling burning inside of me,” the vocals exude a cathartic passion there, jangling with hooky delight in the “don’t quit until you reach the afterglow,” motivational urgings. It makes for a shimmering, replay-inducing success from the project, impressing in the past with tracks like “Indigo” and “Violet.”
They elaborate further on the track’s resonating themes:
“Undertow was born out of a personal storm. It started with a single lyric—“Thunder rolls the open road”—written late one night after a particularly difficult stretch of life. From there, the song unfolded like a cinematic journey: through chaos, through doubt, through fire and rain, always moving toward something brighter. We wanted to create an anthem that felt urgent and honest—a song for anyone who’s been pulled under by life and had to fight their way back. The writing process was raw and fast; the melody came almost instinctively, as if it had been waiting. In the studio, we focused on contrast: big, pounding drums and soaring guitars paired with moments of stillness and breath. The chorus was built to be shouted back by a crowd, while the bridge gives you just enough space to feel the weight of it all. Undertow is about resilience. It’s about not quitting when the current feels too strong.”
