Televised Mind – “Rumours”

The stirring “Rumours” is a defiant, confrontational rock anthem from UK act Televised Mind. Recorded live at Leeds’ Eiger Studios and produced by Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, The Cribs, The Libertines), the track captures a raw immediacy as it navigates themes of healing and authenticity through magnetic, gritty guitar sequences and confident vocal pushes.

Twangy guitars develop quickly into bouncy bass and catchy guitar tones, while a charismatic vocal presence — bordering on biting spoken-word — explores relatable aspects of acceptance, personal healing, and moving forth with a positive state of mind. “I did my very best, but you were out to get me,” the vocals open with lamenting introspection. “Got it all off of my chest,” continues an embrace of full-on honesty, bolstered by a magnetic guitar sequence that drives back into the “just left you high and dry” vocal ardor, tonally reminiscent of Art Brut.

“You couldn’t do it if you wanted to,” they launch into an invigorated uptick in briskness and emotion. A momentary showing of murky, sludgy guitars provides a memorable midpoint, before shifting into the energized vocal feeling and hooky rock allure. An especially gripping build-up shows around the two-minute turn, reminding fondly of The Libertines in the ascent of guitar distortion and unbridled “silly little stories” vocal punchiness. “Too busy spreading rumours, things that ain’t true,” the vocals move from introspection to pleas and criticism, resembling a personal journey of self-realization. “Rumours” is an infectiously replay-inducing rock success from Televised Mind.
