“Camera” is a newly revealed track off CFCF’s upcoming EP Music For Objects, out July 9th on Paper Bag / Dummy. It’s easy to hear the influence of Philip Glass-inspired minimalism in the intro, as multiple brass layers topple over one another in an arpeggiated fury. A trickling of keys reminiscent of CFCF’s past Asian-inspire electronica filters inward, as the brass becomes more prominent and intense in its presence. Slight percussion kicks in, and this track’s status as a “build-up” is solidified, even as the brass collaborates with a fretless bass to stay somewhat idle toward the end. It’s a nicelty inventive effort from the Montreal-based producer, who always meshes novelty with melodic innovation.
