Them Jones – “These Canyons”

Them Jones is a five-piece out of Philadelphia cranking out some enjoyably entrancing psych-rock. “These Canyons”, off their new full-length A Mountain of Nonsense, starts as a slow-burner with a sitar-y reflection and crunchy slow-moving acoustics. Stoned vocals move hazily along, guiding into a joyous cohesion of warm guitar distortion and backing vocal exultation that proves strongly reminiscent of Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized. Fans of those acts like me will very likely fall in love with this track and the rest of the album. This five-piece has their sound and stylistic execution down pat.
