Beverly Sound – “Open Up”

Toronto-based Beverly Sound was formed by Daniel Braga this year. The project’s debut release, the EP Trying to Find, is a very impressive showing, especially the track “Open Up”. The gem meshes rock-laden verses with a bustling bass line and twangy guitars, though the centerpiece is a soaring, atmospheric chorus that melds rock sensibilities with riveting electro-pop, particularly in the chillwave vein, especially when Braga’s vocals soar and plead you to “open up your eyes,” becoming reminiscent of Washed Out. This is a melodic, sweeping track that shows a new project with ample potential to rise.
