mmmonika – “see me on the outside!”

/

The catchy, breezy “see me on the outside!” is a new track from Los Angeles five-piece mmmonika. They describe the track, which was recorded in a cabin in Joshua Tree, as “a happy song for sad people.” The fleeting guitars, spirited vocal delivery, and catchy synth additions remind aesthetically of Phoenix, especially during the melodic chorus. Guitars and synths build around backing vocal additions in the final 30 seconds, providing a satisfying conclusion to this concisely effective effort. I’m definitely looking forward to hearing more from this accessibly melodic act.

5/30 Update: The band just released for the music video for the track. Check it out below:

“see me on the outside!” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Rock.
