The Criticals – “Homebody”

/

In both its NYC references and rock sound, Nashville-based act The Criticals recall the early ’00s rock sound of acts like The Stokes on new track “Homebody.” The act has performed at festivals like FreezeFest and Spudbash in Nashville, with their debut EP upcoming. “Homebody” is a first look at their in-studio sound, one that’s peppy and infectious with a confident vocal swagger. The quaint, trickling guitar backing combines with a pulsating rhythm section during the track’s infectious hook, here also reminding of The French Kicks. While a stylistic homage of sorts, “Homebody” offers some fresh melodic turns and stellar production from this rising Nashville-based act.

“Homebody” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of May 2019’ Spotify playlist.
