Annabel Allum – “When the Wind Stopped”

/

Annabel Allum’s “When the Wind Stopped” is a memorably anthemic rocker — showing the Surrey-based artist as one with a commanding vocal presence and knack for melodic guitar work, which ascends from an initial power-pop formation into one with distortion-friendly waves of alt-rock glory. A reprieve just prior to the one-minute mark provides some retrospection before the second round of replay-friendly distorted ascensions. “Have you ever been where you wanted to? Have you ever taken what you wanted to?” Allum asks as the song starts to wrap, the lyrics convincingly echoing the free-spirited vibe and sound of this successful release. Definitely looking forward to hearing more.

“When the Wind Stopped” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of June 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Indie Rock.
