The Criticals – “Treat Ya Better”

/

Following the success of track “Kate Moss,” Nashville act The Criticals have released another catchy gem in “Treat Ya Better.” The aesthetic pursued throughout echoes a fondness for The Rolling Stones, in the hypnotic guitar work and accompanying vocal backing. The Strokes-esque bridge at 01:57 presents a striking hook, one that melodically grips and enhances an already-successful track. Similar to “Kate Moss,” “Treat Ya Better” merges the act’s various influences, while also emphasizing their own songwriting smarts and brand of rock-driven charisma. I’m looking forward to their debut album, releasing later this year.

“Treat Ya Better” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of August 2019’ Spotify playlist.
