Tenant From Zero – “The End Away”

/

“The End Away” is a new track from Tenant From Zero, recalling the sophisti-pop sound of Prefab Sprout, as well as the chamber-pop act Cousteau. The track is full of fun melodic twists, with the first hook at 00:49. A funk-tinged guitar and sax sputters lead a nifty bridge around 02:45, with the tender guitars at 03:30 meshing beautifully with the emotive vocals.

The male/female vocal dynamic here plays with beautifully melodic pull, echoing that Prefab Sprout influence in the “nothing we could say,” hook. The project, fronted by Paul Darrah, impresses most certainly with this release, produced by Darrah and Ole Åleskjaer (from Oslo band The Loch Ness Mouse) and mixed by Jorge Elbrecht (Ariel Pink, Lansing-Dreiden).

“The End Away” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2019’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Sophisti-Pop.
