David James Allen – “To Share This Dance (With You)”

/

Impressing in May with the sunshine-fit folk track “Tough Love,” David James Allen returns with another success in “To Share This Dance (With You).” Coming from the upcoming album Radiations, out this fall, the track audibly captures the feeling of dancing with jubilation late into the summer night. Twangy guitars and tender vocals — lyrically capturing the feeling of asking someone to spend their life with you — conjure a timeless-sounding feeling. “Tough Love” and now this gem show commendable range for David James Allen, whose upcoming album is surely one I’m anticipating. In the meantime, he will be releasing tracks monthly from the release, from his home studio in Prince Edward County, Ontario.

Of the track, Allen writes the following:

I was inspired by an old waterhole in Barrie, Ontario; my old band would play shows there on the weekends and after the sets were finished we’d get the jukebox going and dance until the bar closed. A big part of that fun was the variety of music that would be chosen throughout the night, everyone would take turns picking a few songs. There was a lot of good rock music pumping through the speakers, T.Rex, David Bowie, Thin Lizzy, Steely Dan… ‘To Share This Dance (With You)’ is a celebration for the freedom of dance and being yourself with friends – I wanted to write a song that could seamlessly find its way into any one of those nights.

“To Share This Dance (With You)” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2020’ Spotify playlist.
