Karlo – “Another Life”

//

A melodic track aesthetically reminiscent of The Stone Roses, “Another Life” comes via Los Angeles-based artist Karlo. Jangly guitars clear a murky introduction, with bass-driven reverberation taking hold just prior to the dreamy vocals’ emergence. The “no control,” section just past the two-minute mark succeeds with a particularly hooky allure (and the section most notably akin to The Stone Roses). Consuming, nostalgic rock production with a jangly, hypnotic charm leads throughout “Another Life,” an impressive output from Karlo.

Recorded at Karlo’s Los Angeles studio, “Another Life” is the artist’s fourth monthly single to be released. Karlo (aka Karl Ostby) describes the track as “about the world crumbling around us while dreaming of something better, or a 2nd chance at life, maybe even immortality.”

“Another Life” and other memorable tracks from this month can also be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2021’ Spotify playlist.

The track is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Emerging Dream-Pop.
