Washing Machina – “New Years Day”

Bursting with hazy guitars and lushly entrancing vocals, “New Years Day” is a track from Stockholm-based band Washing Machina, off their Perfect Misfits EP. Aesthetically playing like a heavier Stone Roses, “New Years Day” enchants initially with a shoegaze-friendly textural assortment of guitars and rhythm amidst a hypnotic vocal refrain. “You have to let it go,” the vocals ring out during the laid-back verses, gearing seamlessly again into the heavier, textural pull of the chorus. The EP touts an abundance of quality songwriting, from the snarling rock of “Kim” to this more atmospheric effort.
