Cheap Hotels – “Pink Flamingos”

/

Strutting a consuming ’80s nostalgia in its new-wave and alt-rock workings, “Pink Flamingos” is the latest track from Cheap Hotels, a band from Tempe, AZ. Reminding of acts like The Psychedelic Furs and The Church, “Pink Flamingos” is the band’s second single from their forthcoming EP.

An immediate unveiling of excitable, jangly guitars and clamorous percussion wastes no time in exhilarating. The more yearning vocal presence enters alongside a more shimmering, restrained guitar backing, adorned by lush synth effects approaching the first minute. The peppy chorus, with hints of surf-rock, touts a colorfully melodic appeal in the fusing of guitars, synths, and escalated vocals.

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2022’ Spotify playlist.
