Long Beach-based act Tetra Collective return with another melodic success in “Something Real,” following up the superbly catchy “Already Unsure.” The fourth and final single from their forthcoming LP, “Something Real” rides on serene backing synths, twinkling keys, and a funk-friendly bass line to start. “I wanna see the other side of you,” the opening vocals admit, enamoring with a synth-pop/sophisti-pop meshing.
The apologetic mid-section — “sorry that I broke your heart, sorry that I made a mess,” — plays with a lush momentum, maintaining an infectious drive within the melancholic yearning. The ensuing “don’t you wanna show me,” refrain builds into a funky, bass-forward section that entrances, driving into a dazzling finale with expressive vocals and twinkling keys alongside. Tetra Collective continue their stellar 2022 with “Something Real.”
The band continues to work on a forthcoming album, due to release this summer.
