Salt Fox – “Woke Up on the Moon”

//

The catchy debut single from Salt Fox, “Woke Up on the Moon” balances chilled-out escapism with smooth pop infection. Hailing from small town Iowa, Salt Fox show memorable soundscapes and clever hooks throughout the single, which was written about “the general feeling of ‘the day after’ something big happened. Learning from your mistakes, and learning who you really are.”

A lush synth pad and excitable guitar spurts complement a laid-back vocal presence to start, gradually evolving with a soulful strut. “Take a picture, it’ll last all night,” the vocals sing suavely, driving to the vibrant “late night on the sun,” bridge — touting a crisp clarity with stylish synths, exuding a James Blake-esque charm. “Woke Up on the Moon” touts a captivating, evolving structure and series of memorable hooks, serving as one of several successes throughout the band’s debut album, Places.
