Wotts + The Desert Island Big Band – “6 Shooter”

A glistening, melodic collaboration from Canadian acts Wotts and The Desert Island Big Band, “6 Shooter” balances a dazed pop whimsy with nostalgic rock allure.

The track’s inspiration comes from The Desert Island Big Band’s track “Six-Shooter.” Wotts were encouraged by DIBB to utilize the new track in some way; the result is a reimagining that succeeds in its brightly melodic sensations and shimmering production.

The lush guitar swirls and understated vocals are quickly joined by twinkling keys; the keys’ weightless quality resonates alongside a laid-back lyrical prowess. Snappy percussion and a lush synth-y charm amidst the “barrel is rusting,” lyrical sequence drives into another effervescent expansion, concocting shades of Beck and The War On Drugs.

Wotts also impressed last month with the track “LEMONADE.”

This track and others featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of July 2022’ Spotify playlist.
