Marottes – “Flip Cups” (Todd Hochradel’s Straight to Hell Remix)

/

A collaborative release with haunting synth wandering and spoken-word samples, “Flip Cups” (Todd Hochradel’s Straight to Hell Remix) consumes in its interpretation of Marottes‘ solo material. The remix comes via Seattle-based artist Todd Hochradel, with mastering by John Jagos (Brothertiger). The remix is described as “an ambient, much more existential take on the source material meant to take you on a relaxing trip to Hell.”

Dark synth pulses and whispered vocals lend a ghostly ambience, with glimmering fragments approaching the one-minute turn. More enthusiastic vocal samples lead to an uptick in effervescence past the second minute. The illuminated qualities compel in leading to a gradually finalizing conclusion. “Flip Cups” (Todd Hochradel’s Straight to Hell Remix) is a stellar showing from Hochradel, Jagos, and Marottes, previously featured with the Languish EP.
