“Hollow Eyes 0_0” is the debut single from hummer, the Los Angeles-based project of Aaron Bernards, who describes it as “a project that plans on being a full band one day.”
Its themes circling around “self-destruction and a desire to feel loved,” “Hollow Eyes 0_0” struts a stirring balance of dreamy vocals and roaring guitars, reaching shoegaze-friendly territory in the distorted guitar textures and wailing invigoration. “You’re all right,” the reassuring vocals let out suavely during one particular rise, joined by an ardent push of hard-rocking, shoegaze-friendly guitar tones. “I want you to know,” repeats thereafter, soaked in a catching ’90s rock nostalgia.
