straylove – “eclipse”

The broodingly atmospheric “eclipse” is comes via Berlin-based duo straylove, comprising Miguel Couto and Nicolás Rodríguez. Featuring dreamy guitar and synth interweaving alongside live drums, the captivating “eclipse” serves as the title track on the project’s upcoming album.

“I don’t get enough sleep,” the vocals admit during the verses, with the sporadic vocal delivery crafting ample momentum into the ensuing atmospheric guitar twangs and swelling synth effect. An elegant guitar line approaches the two-minute turn, seducing with its smoothness.

A spacey synth lead envelops thereafter, assembling a futuristic-feeling soundscape that emphasizes the project’s gripping dream-pop and atmospheric rock energies. Trickling guitars and glistening piano build a haunting conclusion to this standout track, which certainly has me anticipating the upcoming album from straylove.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of March 2023’ Spotify playlist.
