The Lonesomes – “Self Destructor”

/

The latest from Australian band The Lonesomes, “Self Destructor” is a brooding single that unveils an intertwining post-punk and alt-rock energy. A rock-forward frenzy emanates throughout the first half, as a more contemplative post-punk bridge escalates into a culminating “self-destruct,” passion.

“Civilizations turn to ash,” the snarling vocals remark amidst the sludgy guitar work, exuding a consuming apocalyptical rock swampiness. The “self-destruct,” refrain brings forth ardent pulses of guitar, enamoring further as the vocals maintain a suave engrossment. The meshing of post-punk and heavy alt-rock resonates alongside apt themes of alienation and “the search of connection,” — driving a track with a fierce aesthetic composure and attitude.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of April 2023’ Spotify playlist.
