Matched – “Give In”

/

The debut single from Nashville-based husband-wife duo Matched, “Give In” enamors with a spirited, melodic escalation from serene acoustics into an anthemic rousing. Shimmering acoustics glide into a serene vocal composure, admitting “I’m afraid to be this way.” An ensuing guitar line, with shades of The Cure’s more buoyant efforts, hints at the eventual bell-laden chorus — arriving with ardent passion around 01:30, declaring “I know who I am.” The track feels like the cathartic arrival of one’s inner-confidence following strife.

The duo describe the track as “about struggling with perfectionism and feeling internal and external pressure to pretend to be something or someone different, when all you can really do is be who you are.” “Give In” is a standout introduction from Matched.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
