Aubrey Haddard – “Yellow Pocket”

/

“Yellow Pocket” is a stylish, magnetic pop success from NYC-based artist Aubrey Haddard, marking her first release since last year’s full-length album, Awake and Talking. Alongside co-producer CARRTOONS, Haddard crafts an inventive sound throughout “Yellow Pocket,” developing with artful momentum.

Bass-y pulses and snappy percussion drive into a confident vocal drive, quickly expanding into spacey synth flourishes and an infectious refrain. The initial bass-fronted entrancement struts an aesthetical intrigue, with ample possibilities, and the eventual arrival into this synth-packed effervescence fully satiates. The “funny,” vocal bit captivates alongside the whirring synth sparkles, with the haunting “never have to say goodbye,” injecting a nocturnal allure into twangy guitar delectability thereafter.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.
