Drench Fries – “Poolside”

“Poolside” is the latest single from Drench Fries, the project of Brooklyn-based songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Levi Nattrass. Impressing in the past with songs like “Shut-In,” Nattrass continues showcasing an alluring vein of songwriting with “Poolside,” featuring contributions from members of Bread Pilot (DDW), in addition to mixing by Sam Rosson (Death Cab for Cutie, Great Grandpa, Pedro The Lion).

“Don’t wanna get out of bed, thinking about what you said,” the laid-back vocals admit, gearing seamlessly into twangy guitars — exuding an especially beautiful allure past the first-minute, into a piano-driven “struggling to see,” enticement. “Poolside” proves inviting with its breezily melodic glow and shifting between serene folk and twangy hookiness.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.
