Dear Vandal – “It Was Love”

/

The solo project of Vancouver-based artist Geoff Turner, Dear Vandal compels on new single “It Was Love,” described as “about being young and discovering other bodies in the world.” The stylish production enamors, with a sensual vocal presence, hazy synths, and throbbing bass reminding fondly of Pulp. The descriptive lyrical imagery sits in between a catching title-touting refrain, with the “love,” repetition aligning with jangling guitars for a hypnotically alluring effect. “It Was Love” is a memorable showing from Dear Vandal.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
